In a message to local parishes, Archbishop Edwin O’Brien of Baltimore has said he will not recognize a lay-run elementary and middle school as a Catholic institution because it has refused to implement the archdiocesan Catechesis for Human Sexuality program. St. Thomas More Academy’s curriculum, which has a great-books component, includes daily recitation of the Rosary. Local priests, according to a parish bulletin, had been working to secure archdiocesan designation of St. Thomas More Academy as a Catholic school.
