Dutch bishop says motu proprio is ‘like a declaration of war’
July 27, 2021
CWN Editor's Note: A Dutch bishop has charged that in Traditionis Custodes, Pope Francis used language that “looks very much like a declaration of war” on traditional Catholics. In a fiery response, Bishop Rob Mutusaerts, an auxiliary of the ‘s-Hertogenbosch diocese, said that the motu proprio “has nothing to not with evangelization and even less to do with mercy. It is more like ideology.” Bishop Mustaerts said: “The pope should be the guardian of tradition, not the jailer of tradition. While Amoris Laetitia excelled in vagueness, Traditionis Custodes is a perfectly clear declaration of war.”The above note supplements, highlights, or corrects details in the original source (link above).
