CWN Editor's Note: The Chinese government has officially recognized an 83-year-old Catholic bishop who had led the ‘underground’ Church for more than 20 years. On June 9, Bishop Peter Lin Jiashan was installed as head of the Fuzhou diocese—which he has led, without government approval, since 1997. The government’s recognition is a produce of the secret 2018 accord between Rome and Beijing.
