Belgian Catholic university removes faculty member for pro-life stand

April 11, 2017

The Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium has dismissed a faculty member who provoked outcries by describing abortion as a form of murder.

Stephanie Mercier was charged by feminist groups with using his classroom to promote his own political views, after he told a first-year philosophy class that abortion was the taking of an innocent human life. In response to protests, the university first suspended his classes, then informed him that he was being dismissed.

Mercier said that he was given no reason for his dismissal. The university said only that in his class, “the serenity required for teaching was not assured.” The Beligan Catholic bishops’ conference said that the matter was between the teacher and the university.

I suppose that "serenity" occurs only after one agrees to repeat a lie, namely, that abortion does not take an innocent human life. So the agitators now rule the university! Let's see what the bishop of the diocese has to say about this.

So serenity means a blind moral indifference to the slaughter of babies, and being a Bishop in Belgium seems to have a mandatory cowardice requirement. I can't wait till Lent is over so I can have a drink.

Again as happens over and over, Church leaders play politics and bend to the will of the prevailing culture - and for money.

Sack the bishops and take away their churches! Belgium is totally post-modern. Pray for the poor pholpsophy lecturer, the only one who dares to speak the Truth.

Imagine, Fulton Sheen went there. Europe is now filled with Pagans who have Baptismal Certificates. So is the U.S. "Catholic" seems to mean nothing anymore. Bishops are the authenticators of the word. Somebody is not doing his job, or agrees with the University

The university should stand with this professor and tell the feminists to drop it.

What about the Belgian bishops distancing themselves "the matter was between the teacher and the university"?

This is a great scandal and the University of Louvain should no longer be considered Catholic by anyone.
