November 25, 2016

Italian foreign minister Paolo Gentiloni met on November 24 with his Vatican counterpart, archbishop Richard Gallagher, the Secretary for Relations with States, to discuss joint diplomatic activities.

In a press conference after the meeting, Gentiloni said that consultations between Italy and the Vatican are “periodic,” offering a chance to explore the possibility of coordinated actions. He said that the discussions had touched on migration, the fighting in Syria and Iraq, the plight of Christians, and the need for humanitarian aid to Africa.
