Catholic Charities urges Senate to address Flint lead contamination

September 27, 2016

Sister Donna Markham, the president and CEO of Catholic Charities USA, has called upon the Senate to address ongoing lead contamination in Flint, Michigan.

“Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties has been working on the frontlines of the relief and community building efforts to provide impacted families with safe drinking water,” she said in her September 26 letter. “As the water crisis has moved from national attention, so, too, has the outpouring of support which the area received in the early days of the crisis.”
