Pope meets with Argentine cross-cultural educational group
February 04, 2016
Pope Francis met on February 3 with members of the Scholas Occurrentes foundation, an Argentine group that promotes educational projects to bring together young people from different cultures.
The Pope was instrumental in establishing the Scholas Occurrentes while he served as Archbishop of Buenos Aires. He heard a briefing on the group's latest projects, which now involve 400,000 young people associated with the organization.
Among other projects, the group announced plans to sponsor a celebrity soccer game at the Olympic Stadium in Rome: a "Match for Peace."
