Stranded in snow, pro-lifers celebrate Mass on Pennsylvania Turnpike
January 25, 2016
Stranded by a blizzard as they returned home from the March for Life, scores of Catholic pro-lifers from Nebraska and Iowa celebrated Mass outdoors on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on January 23, fashioning a makeshift altar out of the mounds of snow.
With the highway closed by the massive weekend storm, the buses carrying pro-lifers home from Washington were stalled between turnpike exits. Making the most of their situation, the groups gathered several priests to concelebrate Mass for them.
Photos of the outdoor Eucharistic sacrifice, held in swirling snow, quickly become an internet sensation.
