Catholic Charities insists it has not endorsed HHS mandate

February 20, 2012

Following a statement by the White House press secretary that Catholic Charities USA supports the Obama administration’s “compromise” mandate on contraception, Catholic Charities has posted a statement insisting that it has not endorsed the mandate.

“In response to a great number of mischaracterizations in the media, Catholic Charities USA wants to make two things very clear: we have not endorsed the accommodation to the HHS mandate that was announced by the Administration … [and] we unequivocally share the goal of the US Catholic bishops to uphold religious liberty and will continue to work with the USCCB towards that goal. Any representation to the contrary is false.”

Good for you catching that change on the website. I wondered if anyone would notice. Last week I returned the annual Stewardship Appeal letter sent from the Archdiocese of NY with the mention of Catholic Charities circled and an explanation of why I'm not participating this year. Let Fr. Larry take his money from Caesar.

Father Larry and Sister Carol are among those who lead the progressive social justice wing of the Catholic Church and serve the Obama administration as "useful idiots". The USCCB cannot lead the faithful in defense of our religious freedom until they are willing to deal forcefully with these advocated of progressive Catholicism.

Catholic Charities should demand a public retraction from the White House Many Catholics are considering not donating to Catholic Charities because of the incorrect information put forward by the White House.

What? The Obama White House lied? Say it isn't so.

Those who come to the fire to warm themselves often come away burned. There is nothing for Catholics in this corrupt and demonizing Obama administration. Catholics will be invited, used and then thrown away when they are no longer needed. And we will find those things we hold most dear have just been comprimised. We need to hold fast to our teachings and morality.
