The Association of Catholic Priests, an Irish group organized to advocate radical change within the Church, now claims the backing of more than 10% of the priests in Ireland.
At its inaugural general meeting, the Association said that 540 priests have joined. There are about 3,100 diocesan priests in Ireland as a whole, and 1,600 priests who are members of religious orders.
