Are Catholic schools Catholic? A strange case in San Francisco.

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | May 01, 2015

A week later I’m still shaking my head about this news story. I can’t help wondering whether sometime in the future, some historian will stumble across the piece in our archives and assume that there’s some mistake.

You can easily imagine that dissidents might walk out of Catholic school to protest Church teaching. But that’s not what happened here. Faithful nuns walked out of a Catholic school to defend Church teaching.

Is it any wonder that Archbishop Cordileone thinks it’s imperative to ensure that parochial schools are really Catholic?

Thank you Mr. Lawler for pointing me to Archbishop Chaput's "Address" and Anthony Esolen's article. Both are very Powerful! A must read. I would place the USCCB (as an organization) into Esolen's Quisling category.
