Church investigation after Kerala bishop adopts woman visionary

Following a September adoption of a 26-year-old woman by Bishop John Thattumkal of Cochin, his metropolitan archbishop and the papal nuncio have launched an inquiry. The woman, who is daughter of a Syrian Orthodox priest, has allegedly had visions that allowed the bishop to unearth financial irregularities in his Latin Rite diocese.
