Irish bishops oppose extending UK abortion act to Northern Ireland

The Catholic bishops of Ireland have set forth their opposition to a proposal that would extend the force of the 1967 Abortion Act to Northern Ireland. The proposal has been advanced as an amendment to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill, which will come up for a vote in Parliament next week.
