CWN Editor's Note: Pope Leo XIV sent a message of condolence to the pastor of Gaza’s sole Catholic parish after an Israeli airstrike on a residence killed two Orthodox Christian women.
“Since learning the painful news of the deaths of Maysa and Mary, I have been praying to God for them, for their families and for the entire community of Gaza,” Pope Leo wrote. “How long, O Lord?”
“Thank you for accompanying the parish and so many people who wish to live in peace,” the Pontiff added in his message to Father Gabriel Romanelli, I.V.E.
