Preserve unity with the Pope and the apostolic faith, Pope tells Pontifical Teutonic College
October 05, 2026
Pope Leo XIV received members of the Pontifical Teutonic College of Santa Maria in Campo Santo as it marked its 150th anniversary and urged its rector, priests, and associated faithful to preserve “closeness and unity with the Successor of Peter and with the faith of the apostles which he proclaims.”
“This one faith in Christ is the principle of the unity among believers that the Lord prayed for his disciples, because it is an essential condition for the credibility of our witness,” Pope Leo said during the October 3 audience, which took place in Consistory Hall of the Apostolic Palace. “Make this fervent prayer of Jesus your own, ask for this gift, so that the college community may be a place where this unity can be concretely practiced and made visible.”
Founded in 1876, the college is a residence for German priests who are pursuing higher studies in Rome.
