CWN Editor's Note: A lay pastoral coordinator of a Philippine parish was murdered on August 31.

Eduardo Balindres was shot multiple times by unknown assailants in Matalam (map), which is located in a region where both Islamist and Communist rebels have been active.

Bishop José Colin Mendoza Bagaforo of Kidapawan condemned the murder, warned against revenge, and said that “those responsible for the killing must answer through the proper process of law and justice.”
