CWN Editor's Note: The Diocese of San Diego has sold off all investments in corporations that produce fossil fuels, in response to the call from Pope Francis to end the use of those fuels.

Beginning in 2021, at the direction of Cardinal Robert McElroy, the diocese gradually rid itself of all involvement in oil, gas, or coal in its trust funds and pension funds. It is the first US diocese to completely end its investments in fossil fuels.
