Oklahoma AG sues in effort to block Catholic charter school

CWN Editor's Note: In a 3-2 vote, the Oklahoma Statewide Virtual Charter School Board recently approved a contract with the St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School. Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has now filed a lawsuit against the Oklahoma Statewide Virtual Charter School Board.
Charter schools are public schools that are operated by private boards of directors while remaining under state oversight. St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School will be the nation’s first religious charter school.
