Pope's letter on Irish abuse crisis due next week?
March 10, 2010
A letter by Pope Benedict XVI to the Irish Church, in response to the sex-abuse scandal there, will be made public next week, Irish Central has reported. The Vatican has not confirmed the timing of the letter's release.
During his meeting with the Irish bishops in Rome last month the Pope announced that he planned to write an open letter to the Catholic people of Ireland. Father Federico Lombardi, the director of the Vatican press office, said at the time that the Pope's letter would be released before the end of Lent.
