CWN Editor's Note: On September 30, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops released a February 2019 letter from Archbishop Timothy Broglio of the Military Services, then chairman of the US bishops’ Committee on International Justice and Peace, to an official of the State Department about a trip to Korea.

Archbishop Broglio shared requests made by Korean bishops about humanitarian assistance to North Korea, meetings of separated North and South Korean families, and international support to resolve the Korean conflict.

“The USCCB will continue to monitor the situation on the Korean peninsula closely,” Archbishop Broglio added. “I would be happy to meet with you and your staff on the Korea Desk to share more of my observations.”
