New York poised to strengthen oversight of nonpublic schools

CWN Editor's Note: Responding to reports of insufficient education in some Hasidic Jewish schools, New York State is poised to require nonpublic schools to offer a “substantially equivalent” education to that of public schools.

Public school districts will be required to conduct reviews of private schools within their boundaries.
