CWN Editor's Note: The Catholic bishops of Venezuela, in a statement issued at the conclusion of their plenary meeting, offered “a message of hope in the love of God and of personal and community commitment in the re-foundation of our country, in the midst of so many calamities and sufferings that afflict us.” The bishops denounced human-rights violations by the government, and called for the release of political prisoners who “fight for the rights of all Venezuelans.”
