CWN Editor's Note: “Too often we have seen how guns are used in the public forum by someone acting in anger,” the state’s bishops warned. “Instead of relying on law enforcement and our justice system, people with guns in public areas can become the aggrieved, the jury and the judge, in swift and violent sequence.”

"Too often we have seen how guns are used in the public forum by someone acting in anger". Too often, as well, we have seen how knives, cars, trucks, airplanes, baseball bats, other forms of clubs, broken bottles, hammers, etc. are used in the public forum by someone acting in anger. The purpose of a hammer is to build, not kill. The purpose of a domestic gun is to protect and defend, not to destroy. It is the person (mind, eye, hand) that wields the weapon who is to blame, not the tool itself.
