CWN Editor's Note: Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Fabio Fabene, an Italian cleric who has served more than 20 years in various Vatican posts, as Secretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. Bishop Fabene—who has worked most recently as undersecretary of the Congregation for Bishops—replaces another Italian, Archbishop Marcello Bartolucci, who is stepping down at the age of 76 after ten years in the post.
