Former McCarrick secretary rejects fundraising approach

CWN Editor's Note: A priest who once served as private secretary to former cardinal Theodore McCarrick has told his parishioners that he will “eschew fundraising techniques,” because he is revolted by McCarrick’s record of fundraising success, achieved by manipulation. “He was a master of the art, and knew every technique and tactic to its finest point,” said Msgr. Bartholomew Smith. But, he said, McCarrick was a “devourer of souls.”
