CWN Editor's Note: The Diocese of Buffalo, New York, hovering on the edge of bankruptcy, will close its diocesan seminary in a cost-cutting move. Bishop Edward Scharfenberger—who is acting as apostolic administrator of the troubled diocese following the resignation of Bishop Richard Malone—said the diocese could no longer afford the $500,000 annual debt for the operation of the seminary.
