CWN Editor's Note: Blessed Élisabeth (Alphonse-Marie) Eppinger, the foundress of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer, was born in 1814 and died in 1867. “We thank God for this courageous and wise woman who, suffering, in silence and praying, witnessed God’s love especially to all those who were sick in body and in spirit,” Pope Francis said following his September 9 Angelus address. Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu preached at the beatification Mass.
