Court rules Minnesota parishes cannot be included in archdiocesan bankruptcy settlement

CWN Editor's Note: A federal appeals court has affirmed a bankrupcty-court ruling that the assets of parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis should not be included in calculating the net worth of the archdiocese. Attorneys for abuse victims had argued that the archdiocese had access to over $1 billion in assets, including parish properties, as opposed to the $45 million on the archdiocesan balance sheets.
