CWN Editor's Note: A Pew Forum poll finds that among Americans who have no religious affiliation, a majority now accept the notion that an individual’s gender is not necessarily set at birth. Pew found that 62% of atheists, agnostics, and “nones” accept that idea, while a nearly equal number (63%) of Christians believe that gender is biologically determined at birth. Among the Catholics surveyed, a bare majority (51%) agreed that gender is naturally assigned at birth.
