Church doctrines ‘no longer make sense,’ says dissident Irish priest
March 31, 2017
A dissident Irish priest has proclaimed that Catholic doctrines “no longer make sense to the modern mind.”
Father Tony Flannery, who was silenced by the Vatican in 2012 because of his public statements in opposition to established doctrines, said that Church teachings are routinely ignored or rejected even by practicing Catholics, because the Church has not adapted to modern times.
In January, Father Flannery—who is a founder of the Association of Catholic Priests—defied the Vatican’s directives by celebrating Mass and preaching in public. He said that he was not worried about further disciplinary action, because, “I am very much in tune with Pope Francis.”

Once I heard about a family who stopped going to Sunday Mass right after they purchased their first TV set. Father Tony Flannery reminds me of that family.

"A dissident Irish priest has proclaimed that Catholic doctrines 'no longer make sense to the modern mind." ThIs is a loss to the modern mind. The Church's doctrines maintain their enduring import. It is the modern that has work to do. It is the modern mind that must be redirected.

Catholicism is supposed to be counter-cultural Father, or are the warnings of Jesus about our inevitable persecution meaningless to you? Truth never makes sense to a mind immersed in the stupidity of modernism.

The lead information says it all. A dissenting priest who has been drinking the establishment coolaid all of a sudden doesn't like the Church doctrines. Is this a surprise? What is a surprise is why he has not been defrosted.

Catholic doctrines no longer make sense to the "modern mind" because the modern mind is numbed and terrified by the thought police, the politically correct, the vast majority of modern universities. When the enemies of fellowship (a.k.a. "tolerance") lead almost all institutions of higher learning, lead the Establishment in U.S. political parties, and lead the popular culture, it is difficult without proper preparation to swim against this torrential stream. Education has become indoctrination.
