Share your joy—with grandparents—Pope urges young Italians

December 19, 2016

At a December 19 audience with young members of Catholic Action, Pope Francis that that “in the heart of a Christian there is always joy.”

“And this joy multiplies when it is shared,” the Pope continued. He urged the young Italians to bear witness to the Gospel and share the treasure of their faith, especially during the Christmas season.

Pope Francis also gave the young people some “homework,” asking them to make a point of speaking with their grandparents. “Ask them many things, listen to them,” he said. “The elderly have the wisdom of life.”

The Pope praised the work of Catholic Action, and the group’s devotion to the cause of peace. He congratulated them for their recognition that peace is closely linked to solidarity, and their program to help in a needy neighborhood in Naples.
