Cardinal DiNardo: share God’s mercy with those in physical, spiritual need

November 23, 2016

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, the new president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has issued a brief statement welcoming Pope Francis’s apostolic letter Misericordia et Misera.

“Let us seek out the poor, the sick and all those in spiritual need,” said Cardinal DiNardo, as he recalled that “the merciful heart of Jesus is stronger than sin and Christians cannot be indifferent to the suffering around us.”

The prelate added:

As we, ourselves, have been redeemed through God’s mercy, let us generously share with our sisters and brothers what He has so generously given us. In this way, we will transform a Year of Mercy into a life of mercy.
