German national soccer team meets with Pontiff
November 14, 2016
Pope Francis met on November 14 with members of the German national soccer team.
In his remarks to the squad—which had just a lopsided victory over San Marino in a World Cup qualifying game—the Pope emphasized the importance of teamwork, which “requires a great deal of discipline and personal sacrifice, but also respect for others and team spirit.” He also reminded the players of their importance as role models.
