Slovenia’s president meets with Pope

Borut Pahor, Slovenia’s president since 2012, met with Pope Francis at the Vatican on October 17.

Pahor later met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, and Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Secretary for Relations with States.
According to the Holy See Press Office, the parties discussed the national, regional, and international political issues, as well as “the importance of dialogue with the aim of fruitful collaboration for the good of Slovenian society, and in particular for the younger generations.”
Slovenia, a nation of 2.1 million, is 76% Catholic, according to Vatican statistics.
