Jesuit Refugee Service assists 724,000 in 45 nations

Father Thomas Reese, SJ, has written a profile on the work of Jesuit Refugee Service, which was founded in 1980 by Father Pedro Arrupe.
Engaged primarily, according to Father Reese, in “psychosocial work and education,” Jesuit Refugee Service now assists 724,000 refugees in 45 nations with a $50-million budget. Only 65 of its 1,800 employees are Jesuits.
