Papal prayers for Chernobyl, Ecuador
April 21, 2016
Following his April 20 general audience, Pope Francis recalled the thirtieth anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.
“As we renew our prayers for the victims of the disaster, let us express our gratitude to rescue and aid workers and for all the initiatives that have aimed to alleviate suffering and limit damages,” he said.
In remarks to Spanish-speaking pilgrims, the Pontiff also called for prayers for, and solidarity with, the victims of the recent earthquake in Ecuador.
