Rome conference focuses on Divine Mercy

March 31, 2016

Opening a 4-day European Apostolic Congress on Mercy, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna contrasted the limited and sometimes insincere mercy that humans show one another with the boundless mercy that God offers to all people.

The Austrian cardinal remarked that people sometimes feign compassion, when in reality they only want to be rid of a problem. God's mercy, on the other hand, is always offered freely and without limitation to all those who are in need.

The European Apostolic Congress on Mercy, being held in Rome through the weekend, is focused especially on the Divine Mercy devotions. Participants will attend the Mass celebrated by Pope Francis on Sunday, the feast of Divine Mercy; they will meet with the Pontiff at a prayer vigil on Saturday evening.
