North Carolina diocese to open seminary

Bishop Peter Jugis of Charlotte has announced the opening of a minor seminary.

The seminary, which will be led by Father Matthew Kauth, is expected to welcome nine men in the fall. The seminarians will take classes at Belmont Abbey College while living in community.

St. Joseph’s College Seminary will be among the only seminaries in the Southeast; the nearest seminaries are located in Florida, Louisiana, and Washington, DC.
