India: Christian group asks government protection from violence during Holy Week
March 21, 2016
The Global Council of Indian Christians has asked the country's government for protection during Holy Week, noting that "violence against individual Christians and churches continues unabated in different parts of India."
Noting a large number of incidents in which Christians were targeted-- usually by Hindu zealots-- the group said that there were fears of an organized attack during Holy Week, and asked for "protection and security for our defenseless community."
