Papal blessing for Neocatechumenate families

March 18, 2016

Pope Francis gave his blessing to 250 families from the Neocatechumenal Way who were sent out on "family missions" at a March 18 ceremony in the Vatican's Paul VI auditorium.

In his message to the group, Pope Francis offered brief reflections on three words: unity, glory, and world.

Regarding unity, the Pope urged the Neocatechumenate families to keep in mind that the devil "provokes pride, being judgmental of others; he causes closures and divisions." On glory, he reminded the group that the glory of the Cross is "a paradoxical glory" that does not bring earthly applause. As to the world, the Pope stressed the need for the faithful to go out into the community to preach the Gospel. "He who loves does not stay away," he said.
