Venezuelan prelate laments collapse of health care

The Venezuelan Episcopal Conference’s justice and peace commission, led by Archbishop Roberto Lückert León, has issued a statement decrying the “profound deterioration” in the state of health care in the nation.

Citing a shortage of doctors, medicines, and basic supplies, Archbishop Lückert also lamented the nation’s food shortages and called upon government leaders to move these concerns to the forefront of the nation’s political agenda.
The nation of 30.9 million is 88% Catholic.
