Indonesia: interreligious rally against terrorism

January 21, 2016

Nahdlatul Ulama, Indonesia’s largest Muslim organization, recently sponsored an interfaith rally against terrorism in Jakarta.

“I appreciate the initiative,” Bishop Yohanes Harun Yuwono of Tanjung Karang told AsiaNews. “I really hope that those who want to strengthen Indonesia’s pluralistic spirit will be able to say so to those not present in the square.”

The nation of 255.5 million ranks fourth in the world in population and has more Muslims than any other country. Indonesia is 87% Muslim, 7% Protestant, 3% Catholic, and 2% Hindu.
