Pope approves synod participants from nearly 40 nations

June 16, 2015

Pope Francis has ratified the names of participants chosen by nearly 40 episcopal conferences to take part in the upcoming Synod of Bishops on the family. The decision, made May 22, was announced by the Holy See Press Office on June 16.

The Pontiff had previously ratified the names of participants chosen by nearly 75 other episcopal conferences.

The June 16 announcement also included the names of ten heads of male religious institutes chosen by the International Union of Superior Generals and ratified by the Pope. The heads of the Jesuit, Conventual Franciscan, Dominican, and Redemptorist orders are among the heads of religious institutes who will take part in the synod as synod fathers.
