Myanmar: authorities order removal of cross

January 30, 2015

Authorities in Chin State, which is located in western Myanmar (Burma), have ordered the removal of a hillside cross that is 16 feet tall.

Tial Cem, who constructed the cross and is refusing to heed the order, faces the prospect of a two-year jail sentence, according to AsiaNews.

“If the authorities say I have to go to jail, I am not afraid; I am ready to go to jail for this case,” he said.
