June 30, 2014

Pope Francis received Hery Rajaonarimampianina, the president of Madagascar since January, in audience on June 28.

President Rajaonarimampianina also met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, and Msgr. Antoine Camilleri, the Under-Secretary for Relations with States.

Discussions centered on “the current phase of recovery within the country, underlining the positive contribution of the Catholic Church on the path to national reconciliation and political stability, as well as her contribution in the education and healthcare sectors,” according to the Holy See Press Office.
