Greek president meets with Pontiff for talks on religion and society, economic ills

Pope Francis met on March 29 with President Karolos Papoulias of Greece, for a discussion that centered on ecumenical cooperation and the role of religion in society.
During the meeting, the Pope also spoke with the Greek leader about the worldwide economic crisis, which is having a particularly acute effect on Greece, and about the troubled future of Christians living in the Middle East.
