Belgian senate approves euthanasia for children
December 13, 2013
Belgium’s senate has approved legislation that would allow euthanasia of children.
By a vote of 50 to 17, the senate passed a bill that would authorize doctors to end the lives of children who ask to die because they are terminally ill and in pain. The bill stipulates that the children must understand their request, and parents must give their approval.
If the bill is approved by the lower house of parliament, as expected, Belgium would be the first country to allow euthanasia without any age limitation.
