Canadian bishops elect new president

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has announced that Archbishop Richard Smith has been elected as the new CCCB president. Pope Benedict appointed him Archbishop of Edmonton in 2007.

Archbishop-elect Paul-André Durocher of Gatineau is the conference’s new vice president.
