Leading Korean prelate rips nuclear energy

The president of the Korean bishops’ conference has offered strong criticism of nuclear energy, calling it a “monster” and stating that it is a “lie” to call it a clean energy source.

Nuclear power is “great disaster which can’t be controlled by any human technology,” said Bishop Peter Kang U-il of Cheju following a visit to the Japanese nuclear power plant affected by the March Sendai earthquake. “We must limit ourselves when it comes to nature.”
