Catholic Recipe: Creole Sauce I

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 1/2 cup minced green pepper
  • 1/2 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons melted butter or margarine
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika

Foreign chefs have taught us that the addition of a savory sauce can lift an ordinary food to epicurean heights. This creole sauce can be spiced up with Tabasco or other hot sauce.

DIRECTIONS

Cook onion, green pepper, and garlic in butter or margarine until soft but not brown — about 10 minutes. Add tomato sauce and seasonings; cook 5 minutes longer. Makes 4 servings.
